More Progress on the cam chain replacement

Posted by on June 12, 2010

So continued on the work, had the balancing weight backwards so here is what it should look like:

Right side balance weight now correctly mounted

Sprocket on balancing shaft in place and lined up:

Balance shaft sprocket aligned

Washer and nut back in place and torqued to 150Nm with a little loctite on it:

Right side bolted back together

Flywheel in place and with a homemade tool it was easy to torque it up to the 150Nm and loctite:

A homemade tool to be able to torque the flywheel bolt

Was hard holding the measuring tool and get a good picture but its ~10mm now from the previous ~6mm:

Have ~10mm of tensioner preload now

Since engine was locked in rear TDC i put the rear cams back in, intake:

Rear intake cam in place

Exhaust:

Rear exhaust cam in place

And ignition cover back on and torqued, that was as far as i got:

Ignition cover ready to go on

But I have a small insex bit on the loose, might have to start opening things up if I can’t find it. It got stuck in the last bolt on the cam chain bridge when torquing that up and I wiggled it loose with my hand and where I put it after that is a very good question.
